Urban Landscapes with 5x4 Field Camera
This workshop, led by artist Peter Bennett, is for more advanced participants interested in working with large film format cameras. The negatives and positives produced by such cameras gives incredible detail, and can be enlarged for fine exhibition prints. This workshop will be of particular interest for participants working around landscapes and portraiture, where a ‘slow’ meditative and considered practice is central to their work.
About the tutor
Peter Bennett is a photographic artist and academic. His work fluctuates between landscape and still life. His recent landscape work explores the visualization of urban space in past and future time. Previous projects have examined the book, the sea and the materiality of the photograph, as metaphoric and material repositories of memory. His images often reflect upon the processes of forgetting and erasure in relation to the hastening structures of temporality that have accompanied the rise of modernity. He has an MA and MPhil in Photography from the University of Brighton and has been the course leader in BA Photography at the University of West London for the past 10 years.
